A native of Sumter, South Carolina, Sean Hackett received his Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in Music Education from  the University of South Carolina in May 2009. While at USC, he studied saxophone with Dr. Clifford Leaman and was a member of the Carolina Band, USC Concert Band, USC Wind Ensemble, and the Left Bank Jazz Band. In 2011, he accepted a teaching position at Bates Middle School where he served as director of bands for 9 years before leaving the profession in 2020. 

Mr. Hackett’s professional affiliations include The North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA), South Carolina Music Educators Association, South Carolina Band Director’s Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity. He teaches saxophone privately and is an active performer in the Sumter Community Concert Band, the Sumter Community Jazz Band, the Sumter Little Theatre, and the Palmetto Concert Band, among other ensembles.
